My name is Sarah On 12th July 2023 I underwent a knee arthroscopy, which was done by Mr Singisetti at the Nuffield Newcastle. I just want to say how impressed I was with the care that I received from start to finish. I had undergone the very same surgery in 2018 on the NHS, but having been involved in multiple violent incidents in my role as a prison Governor, last year, I was unfortunate enough to find myself in the very same position once again. As soon as I made contact with the Nuffield, Mr Singisetti made contact with me. I did not think for one minute that the consultant himself would call me me, but he did; not just once, but twice. He was very friendly and approachable, and I really appreciated this. I was seen in no time at all and the surgery was booked in. Mr Singisetti was very clear about the risks involved in the operation, especially as I had already undergone surgery previously and there was now evidence of arthritis, but he agreed that I had no other option as my knee was locked. I relied on a crutch, and I had already lost the job that I loved, having waited many months on a very long NHS waiting list. On the day of my surgery, I was allocated a fabulous nurse called Nicola Whitehead. She was friendly, funny, warm and clearly loved her job. She put me at ease and made sure I was relaxed before going into theatre. The anaesthetist was very friendly too, and put me at ease. When I came to, I was greeted by 2 lovely nurses, I can’t remember their names, and I was in a lot of pain so they made sure that that was managed right away. Nicola escorted me back to my room, (which was fabulous by the way), and she looked after me really well. The food was excellent and cups of tea for both myself and my husband (who was kindly allowed to stay) were free flowing. The whole experience was excellent. I saw a lady physio in the following week and she was very impressed with how well I had recovered and she discharged me at the first appointment. Nicola had arranged for my dressings to be removed at my GP Practice and after 4 weeks I had a follow up appointment with Mr Singisetti. Mr Singisetti appeared well chuffed when I walked to his office. After only 4 weeks I was walking so well that he could not figure out which knee he had operated on! I now have my life backs and I am getting out and about and going on long walks. The Nuffield is a fabulous hospital, from the hospital itself to the array of staff who work there. Everyone was very welcoming and professional in their dealings with me. Please pass on my thanks to everyone who looked after me. Kind regards Sarah Wilson

Couldn’t be happier with my knee surgery, after being on nd off crutches for years I’m finally back on my feet. I no longer take any pain medication either, can’t thank him and the team enough.

He was easy to talk to. About 3 weeks after my operation, he phoned me to ask how I was. I thought that was very nice of him.
